Currently in the works

As I use the site for somewhat longer articles, this page is about what I currently have in the works.

Reading

  • Charles Stross: Singularity Sky & Accelerando
Stross is an interesting author which mashes up technology, sci-fi, occasionally the occult.
The Charles Stross website is an interesting place, too – he writes a lot about writing and publishing.
  • Joseph Conrad: Lord Jim
Once again, there are certain classics I haven’t read, and I came across this book along with The Immoralist by André Gide in the used books section of my local book store, The BookMark Shoppe.
  • Aldous Huxley: Brave New World
A short break in my Great American Classics run to go to another classic I came across. A remarkably modern novel for a piece from the early 30ies.
  • E. L. Doctorow: Homer & Langley
A New York story of two brothers. This is my first meeting with Doctorow; 50 pages in I must say I find his language and story compelling.

Listening

  • Radio Litopia
The Litopia podcast is a group of intelligent and entertaining podcasts about writing and publishing.

In the works

For books on the to-read list, see The Book Pile.

  • As I have received a work laptop with my recently being hired as the General Manager of the Danish-American Chamber of Commerce, I am interested in doing a Windows 7 review – as reviewed by an experienced Linux-only user.
  • Working on an article on the Gutenberg Project for the Danish Nettips site.
  • Finished reading Steven Levy: Hackers. Levy’s Hackers is a classic in computer history – describing an era from when the great lumbering giant computers were emerging to when personal computers were appearing. Expect a review.
  • I have a fantasy about writing a review of The Historian by Elisabeth Kostova, but it is a massive story, and I want to do it justice.
  • Just finished reading Christian Jungersen: The Exception, a translation of a popular Danish book. Review possibly in the works, but I was less impressed with the book – or maybe just the translation; so review will be out when the more interesting ones are done!
  • As one of the translators of Abiword – I maintain the Danish translation – I have discovered that the help functions in the program leave a lot to be desired. So I have an ambition of presenting a new system for it.
